The Tennessee Government Professionals Institute (TGPI) was launched in February 2022. Participants share in a rigorous two-week program that targets specific leadership competencies to foster an environment of excellence.
We partner with the Tennessee Department of Human Resources on this program. The institute is for high-performing employees who haven’t yet reached the managerial or executive level but want to build their professional skills.
Instructors come from across the state, and sometimes from other states, to share their expertise. As a bonus, each participant can learn from the experiences of other subject matter experts in similar positions.
Program Details
TGPI is a commitment worth making! Participants can expect the following schedule:
- Virtual orientation (January)
- Week 1 training (January)
- Week 2 training (March)
- Graduation ceremony (April)

Applications
The Tennessee Department of Human Resources chooses up to 65 applicants to participate. Participants must apply and be accepted to the TGPI program after being notified by their state agency.
